Api Koroisau has renewed his contract with the Wests Tigers for an additional two seasons, securing his place in the team until the end of 2028. This decision is a significant boost for the Tigers, as Koroisau opted against entering the open market in November, remaining part of Benji Marshall’s squad.

At 32 years old, Koroisau was anticipated to be a sought-after player, particularly by the newly re-established Perth Bears and other clubs aiming to attract the experienced hooker. Instead, he has chosen to continue his playing career at Concord, where he feels a strong sense of belonging.

In a statement, Koroisau expressed his deep affection for the club, stating, “This club has become family to me. I’ve felt nothing but support from the players, staff, and especially Benji – he’s someone I really admire and enjoy playing under. I’m stoked to re-sign and can’t wait to help lead this team for a few more years.”

His decision to extend his contract follows the early release of young talent Tallyn Da Silva, who has signed with Parramatta. The Tigers management took a strategic risk by allowing Da Silva to leave before solidifying Koroisau’s commitment, but their concerns were alleviated once Koroisau confirmed his re-signing.

Benji Marshall, the Tigers’ coach, expressed his satisfaction with the contract extension, highlighting Koroisau’s integral role on the team. He remarked, “Api is a great player but more so he is the heart and soul of this team. His leadership, experience, and energy are invaluable. Having him commit to our future is massive for the direction we are heading in. We are thrilled to have him and his wonderful family here long term.”

Koroisau’s re-signing contributes to the Tigers’ momentum as they build their roster for the future, joining other key players such as Terrell May, Sunia Turuva, Samuela Fainu, and Fonua Pole, who have also committed to the club for the long term. Additionally, Kai Pearce-Paul is set to join the Tigers in 2026.
