In a tragic case from Western Australia, Gregory Bragger, a father mourning the death of his 15-year-old daughter Caitlyn, has faced charges after allegedly threatening her boyfriend, who was driving the vehicle in a fatal crash. The incident occurred when the four-wheel-drive vehicle rolled near Logue Brook Dam, approximately 115 kilometres south of Perth, resulting in Caitlyn’s untimely death.
Following the incident, Bragger reportedly spent a night in custody, having made multiple threats against the unlicensed teen driver. Court proceedings revealed that he had expressed his intent to cause harm, stating, “I don’t miss. I will kill him,” and ominously added that if the driver survived, he would find himself in a wheelchair.
In addition to threats towards the driver, Bragger allegedly directed threats towards police officers, claiming he was a sniper and indicating a willingness to harm them if interfered with. His actions at a local fundraiser, where he continued to make violent comments, added to concerns about his state of mind during this period of grief.
Bragger’s defence argued in court that his remarks were not meant as direct threats and that he did not know the whereabouts of the young driver. Moreover, it was mentioned that he has resorted to alcohol as a way of coping with his loss. The court granted him release on a $2000 bail, under strict conditions including a 100-metre exclusion zone from the young driver.
This tragic story highlights the deep pain of losing a child and the complexities that grief can bring, as well as the consequences of unchecked emotions during such a devastating time.
