One of Australia’s prominent boat manufacturers, Riviera, is launching its 2026 apprenticeship program on the Gold Coast and aims to recruit between 30 to 50 apprentices. This initiative is providing opportunities across various trades that are essential for the construction of high-end motor yachts.
Participants in the apprenticeship will gain hands-on experience in the luxury vessel industry, with Riviera’s training manager, Keira Bedke, highlighting that constructing these multimillion-dollar yachts requires expertise from ten different trades. The opportunities include roles such as marine craft construction, composite technicians, electrotechnology, upholstery, and CNC operators. Notably, a significant number of positions are reserved for school-based apprentices, primarily aimed at current Year 11 students progressing into Year 12.
The program is designed to foster practical skills in constructing high-value yachts. For example, Nicholas Keane, a second-year electrical apprentice, shared his experience of the stimulating work environment, which includes a variety of responsibilities such as electrical installations and equipment fittings, ranging from lighting to advanced systems like fish finders.
Riviera prides itself on its high apprentice retention rate, reported at an impressive 95%. To provide more details about the program, Riviera will be conducting information sessions next week. Applications can be submitted through their official website, paving the way for aspiring tradespeople to embark on a rewarding career in boat manufacturing.
