On June 10, just before 5:30 pm, police responded to a call at a hotel located on Ingham Road in Townsville’s West End. Upon arrival, they discovered a 17-year-old girl, reportedly brandishing a knife and making threats. It is alleged that during the encounter, the girl attempted to assault the officers, leading to her being shot in the abdomen by police.
Following the incident, on June 20, she was charged with two counts of assaulting police officers and one count of intending to cause grievous bodily harm. The girl was denied police bail and is scheduled to appear in court today. Additionally, the circumstances surrounding the shooting are currently under investigation by the Ethical Standards Committee.
