The New Mexico Gas Company recently completed a thorough investigation into potential gas leaks and carbon monoxide concerns at the home of actor Gene Hackman and his wife, Betsy Arakawa, as confirmed by the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office. The investigation, which occurred on February 26, revealed “no significant findings,” although it did uncover one tiny leak in a stove burner and four violations regarding the installation of lighters for the water heater and fireplaces.

Despite these minor issues, the sheriff’s office emphasized that the findings are not believed to be connected to the tragic deaths of Hackman, aged 95, and Arakawa. Authorities have forwarded their findings to the Office of the Medical Investigator, continuing the process of determining the cause of death.

Initial autopsy results showed that both individuals displayed no signs of external trauma or foul play. Furthermore, there were no indications of a gas leak, and both Hackman and Arakawa tested negative for carbon monoxide poisoning. This lack of evidence is significant, as it helps rule out gas-related issues as potential contributors to their untimely demise.

As investigations progress, the community reflects on the remarkable life of Gene Hackman, celebrated for his achievements in acting, including a Best Supporting Actor Oscar award in 1993. As more information becomes available regarding the couple’s death, the sheriff’s office continues to ensure a comprehensive and diligent inquiry.
