Joël Le Scouarnec has been convicted of raping and sexually assaulting 299 children. This verdict comes as he already serves a 15-year sentence for previous offences, including the rape and sexual assault of four minors, two of whom were his nieces.

The recent trial, held in Brittany, western France, highlighted a disturbing pattern of abuse that occurred from 1989 to 2014. A significant number of the victims were vulnerable hospital patients, often unconscious or under sedation during the assaults. The average age of the victims was just 11 years old, with 158 boys and 141 girls among those affected.
