A fire broke out at an apartment complex on Crown Street in Surry Hills, inner Sydney, at 12:05 am, resulting in four individuals being hospitalised and around 30 residents evacuated. When emergency services arrived, they found the entire building engulfed in flames.
Paramedics treated the injured, who were then taken to St Vincent’s Hospital and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital for further care. Fire and Rescue New South Wales successfully extinguished the blaze; however, the apartment building was left severely damaged.
No additional injuries were reported, and an investigation has been launched to determine the cause of the fire, which remains unknown at this stage. The emergency response highlighted the swift action taken by crews to mitigate what could have been a more serious incident.
