A dramatic police pursuit involving a stolen Ford Mustang unfolded today, culminating in a crash on the O-Bahn busway. The chase commenced on the Yorke Peninsula and continued along the Copper Coast Highway, where police began their pursuit of the vehicle.
As the Mustang sped through Two Wells and Virginia, it was tracked by a police aircraft. The chase reached a home in Elizabeth North, where law enforcement attempted to apprehend those inside the vehicle. Officers successfully arrested two 14-year-olds and two 16-year-olds; however, the Mustang took off again with two individuals still inside before crashing onto the O-Bahn tracks.
The aftermath resulted in significant disruption, with a crane required to remove the wrecked car, leading to prolonged delays on the busway. Meanwhile, the remaining teenagers in the vehicle made a run for it, escaping into a neighbouring property’s backyard before being caught by the police.
These suspects now face charges relating to the unlawful use of a motor vehicle. Authorities suspect that the teenagers are affiliated with a youth gang, prompting a taskforce to investigate the incident further.
