A lawyer and an alleged member of the Alameddine crime group were the victims of a shocking shooting in Parramatta, Sydney. The incident occurred around 5pm yesterday as the two men were inside a Toyota Hilux with two others when assailants fired upon them from a passing vehicle.
The victims have been identified as Dawood Zakaria, an associate of the Alameddine organisation, and Silvan Singh, a lawyer. Both men are currently in critical condition; Zakaria sustained a gunshot wound to the head and is reportedly not expected to survive, while Singh is in stable condition.
In the aftermath of the shooting, dashcam footage revealed the Hilux swerving across the median strip, and police later found that two tyres on the passenger side were punctured by bullets. Authorities are also investigating the involvement of a Mercedes that was discovered ablaze approximately 3.5 kilometres away at an apartment complex on Sherwood Street in Merrylands West, suspecting it may have been the getaway vehicle.
Officer Jason Box from NSW Police affirmed their commitment to capturing those responsible. He acknowledged the presence of organised crime in the area and the potential for violent reprisals, indicating that police would increase their presence and resources to tackle this issue effectively.
Previously, it is noted that Zakaria survived another shooting incident earlier this year in Brighton-le-Sands, suggesting a continued pattern of targeted violence. The investigation remains active as police seek to hold accountable those involved in this latest attack.
