CCTV footage has captured the tragic moments leading up to a fatal pedestrian accident in Blakehurst, a suburb of Sydney. The incident occurred on King Georges Road at approximately 6:50 PM yesterday, where a 60-year-old woman was struck by a vehicle.
In the footage, the woman is seen crossing the road just before she was hit. Emergency responders arrived promptly at the scene, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the location.
The driver, a 28-year-old man, was taken to hospital for mandatory testing following the incident. Subsequently, he faced charges for dangerous driving and negligent driving occasioning death, prompting the suspension of his driver’s licence. He has been granted bail and is scheduled to appear at Sutherland Local Court on May 20.
Witnesses reported that two of the three westbound lanes on King Georges Road were closed temporarily but reopened by the following morning. The area surrounding the crash has been cordoned off as the Crash Investigation Unit conducts a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
