A food delivery rider in his mid-twenties has been hospitalised following a startling assault in Melbourne’s south-eastern region. The incident occurred last night while he was riding along a path in Carnegie, where he was repeatedly stabbed in the arm by an assailant who emerged from the shadows. After the attack, the offender stole the rider’s e-scooter and fled the scene.
Witnesses described the victim as visibly shaken and in distress, with one individual recalling their attempt to gather information from him during this harrowing moment. “He was pretty rattled. He was pretty freaked out,” the witness stated. Local residents rushed to assist the rider until emergency services arrived. He underwent surgery to treat the injuries sustained from the stabbing.
Following the assault, local police conducted an extensive search of the area into the night, focusing their efforts on tracing the attacker, who is believed to have escaped towards Murrumbeena station. Authorities are currently examining CCTV footage from the vicinity to aid their investigation.
Despite the crime scene being cleared, police remain determined to identify and apprehend the perpetrator of this violent act.
