Queensland mother Tayla Spies has been remembered fondly by her family following the tragic news of her death, as confirmed by her sister. The Queensland police have now verified that the human remains discovered recently belong to the missing 28-year-old mother.

Sharing the heartbreaking news through a Facebook post, Tayla’s sister, Rebecca Spies, described her as a “beautiful girl,” expressing her profound sorrow over the loss. She noted that, despite Tayla no longer being physically present, her spirit will forever remain within their hearts. Rebecca conveyed gratitude to the Australian public for their supportive response during the 63 days since Tayla went missing, cherishing the solidarity they received from family and friends during such a challenging time.

Rebecca stated, “Tayla was and always will be incredibly loved, more than she would ever know,” and asked for understanding as her family navigates the overwhelming sadness of their loss. In her heartfelt message, she thanked everyone for their kindness and support and concluded with a touching farewell, wishing Tayla to “fly high and rest easy.”

Tayla was reported missing after failing to return home from a weekend trip in February, having last been seen on CCTV footage at a service station in Condamine. After searches, her vehicle, a 2017 Toyota HiLux, was located locked and containing some personal items, including a pink shirt she wore on the day she disappeared. The car was found on a property along Yuleba-Surat Road in Noorindoo, approximately 40 kilometres from Surat.

Detective Chief Inspector Garry Watts confirmed that Tayla’s remains were located about one kilometre from where her vehicle was found, bringing an end to the family’s agonising wait for answers. The Spies family continues to ask for privacy as they mourn their irreplaceable loss.
