A 30-year-old Fijian man, Ulaiasi Uto Viladai, has been brought before the courts after allegedly exposing himself to two women on a Jetstar flight from Melbourne to Brisbane on June 1. The incident occurred in the same row where Viladai was seated, prompting the women to alert the airline staff, who subsequently relocated them to different seats for their safety.

During the flight, cabin crew monitored Viladai until the plane landed, after which he was escorted off by police. Authorities also interviewed other passengers and crew members as part of their investigation into the matter. Viladai faces a charge of indecent exposure, which carries a maximum penalty of one year in prison.

Court documents indicate that Viladai is in Australia on a work visa, and he appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court, where his case has been adjourned until August 15. Following the court session, he quickly exited the premises.

Detective Superintendent Anthony Conway from the Australian Federal Police condemned the incident, labelling the behaviour as “offensive,” particularly given the confined space of an aircraft. He emphasised that such indecent conduct will not be tolerated, and the AFP is committed to taking action against individuals who engage in criminal acts on planes.
