With current employment in these industries at 706,000, research predicts an increase in workforce demand by 150,000 by 2033.
Eeger is designed to address critical staff shortages in places like hotels, restaurants, and cafes, and will feature job vacancy listings, training opportunities, and career advancement options. This initiative is part of the government’s strategy to strengthen the visitor economy and ensure a skilled workforce for the future.
Trade and Tourism Minister Don Farrell commented on the platform’s significance, stating it represents a vital resource for job seekers and employers across the industry. He expressed pride in supporting this innovative solution that aims to rejuvenate Australia’s tourism sector.
Emilie Howe, the general manager of eeger, emphasised that the platform is uniquely tailored for the industry, advocating that all businesses, regardless of size, should utilise this free resource.
