Federal authorities have recently revealed troubling allegations against a 17-year-old from Wisconsin, Nikita Casap, who is accused of murdering his parents as part of a plot to assassinate former US President Donald Trump. According to newly released court documents, Casap had expressed intentions to not only kill the president but also to overthrow the US government, as indicated by written materials and text messages uncovered by investigators.

Authorities believe that the alleged murder of his mother, Tatiana Casap, and stepfather, Donald Mayer, was motivated by a desire to gain “financial means and autonomy” necessary to implement his violent plans. The teen now faces multiple charges, including two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of concealing a corpse, along with three federal charges related to attempted presidential assassination, conspiracy, and the utilisation of weapons of mass destruction.

Found dead from gunshot wounds, Casap’s parents were believed to have been killed on February 11. His arrest initially stemmed from a separate incident involving the theft of his stepfather’s SUV and possession of a firearm. Subsequent searches revealed troubling documentation on Casap’s phone, including material linked to a neo-Nazi group known as “The Order of Nine Angles.” Investigators noted that the materials included a self-proclaimed manifesto detailing plans for the president’s assassination and potential terrorist attacks.

Casap’s vehicle contained women’s jewellery, electronics, a significant amount of cash, and banking documents, leading authorities to suspect that he may have intended to finance his schemes through those means. A three-page manifesto, which called for political revolution and featured disturbing imagery including Adolf Hitler, highlighted Casap’s extremist views and misguided rationale for targeting Trump. Additionally, messages from his phone indicated he had researched using drones for attacks and had taken steps to obtain explosives.

A classmate reported that Casap had openly discussed his intent to kill his parents and had expressed a desire to obtain a firearm. He also mentioned contacts in Russia, allegedly plotting to overthrow the US government.

As of now, Casap has not entered pleas for the numerous charges against him and is scheduled for arraignment in May. This case has raised significant concern regarding youth radicalisation and violence, demonstrating the potential reach and dangers of extremist ideologies among young individuals.
