A father of two, Jamie Murray, tragically lost his life in an alleged hit-and-run incident in Mandurah, Western Australia. He was remembered fondly by the community as “one in a million” following the incident, which occurred just metres from his home on a Saturday morning. Authorities have charged a 37-year-old woman, who was apprehended nearby the crash site.

Murray, 45, had established a routine of walking to and from his residence, which was familiar to locals. A newspaper delivery man discovered him unresponsive on the road shortly after the accident. Neighbour Sandy Austin expressed the collective grief of the community, stating it was devastating to lose someone who was so involved and supportive of local initiatives.

An avid supporter of the arts, Murray had been a significant presence in the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre for over 20 years, contributing greatly to the local theatre scene. Primadonna Productions described him as a dedicated member of the community whose absence would be deeply felt.

His friend Gisell Barb noted that the impact of his passing was profound, emphasizing that Murray’s children were his world and how challenging their lives would be without him. The community’s sorrow was palpable, as they came to terms with the loss of someone who had touched many lives.

Police reported that a grey Kia Rio hatchback was involved in the incident. Officers quickly located the alleged driver at a residence on the same street as the incident. The woman faces charges including failing to stop and provide assistance after a fatal incident, as well as failing to report it. She is due to appear in court later this month.
