Connor McLeod, a 25-year-old, was struck by an unregistered trail bike while walking near Battle Street in Loganlea, roughly 25 kilometres south of Brisbane. The incident occurred on Tuesday evening, leaving McLeod with severe injuries, including collapsed lungs, a broken neck, and brain bleeding. He was quickly transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he currently remains in an induced coma.

McLeod’s fiancée, Anneliese Rodger, shared the devastating impact on their family, which includes their four-year-old daughter. “She just wants to see her dad, and that’s the hardest part,” Rodger expressed. She also reflected on the shock of the rider leaving the scene after checking McLeod’s condition.

Following a police appeal for witnesses, a 21-year-old man turned himself in at Kingston police station and has since been charged with multiple offences. This includes charges for the dangerous operation of a vehicle resulting in grievous bodily harm and failing to assist after an incident. The accused is scheduled to appear in court on April 1.

Authorities are still seeking additional dashcam footage and information regarding the accident to further their investigation.
