A Melbourne man, David, experienced a horrifying home invasion in Malvern while his wife, Amanda, slept. The incident occurred around 5:30am when two masked intruders, using T-shirts as balaclavas, aggressively attempted to break into their home. David, having just made himself a coffee, was quick to act when he saw one of the intruders with a knife through the window. He grabbed his computer and tried to fend off the assailant but was unsuccessful.
Once inside, the intruders confronted David, with one of them threatening him with a knife and demanding to know where the keys were. They stole the keys to both the family’s Audi and Jaguar, along with cash from the home, before fleeing the scene in the vehicles. The invasion left the family shaken, with Amanda expressing her distress and feeling vulnerable in her own home.
Fortunately, police responded swiftly, locating the stolen Jaguar just 15 minutes later in a nearby street and recovering the Audi four hours later at a residence in Frankston. Authorities arrested a 17-year-old, a 23-year-old man, and a 36-year-old man, all facing multiple charges, including motor vehicle theft. However, it was reported that these individuals may not have been directly involved in the burglary.
In court, the 36-year-old was granted bail with a future appearance set for May 5, while the 23-year-old was held in custody pending a court date on April 4. The 17-year-old, refusing to appear in child court, remains in custody and is scheduled to face court on April 7. Additionally, police arrested a 15-year-old boy connected to this incident, another home invasion in McKinnon, and an attempted break-in in Bentleigh East that same night. Investigations are ongoing as authorities work to gather more information about the incident and its perpetrators.
