In a shocking incident in Forest Hill, Melbourne, a 32-year-old man was stabbed during a random attack while walking home from work late one Thursday night. The assailant approached the victim in a car, hurling insults and demanding his phone. Despite attempting to walk away, the attacker followed, exited the vehicle, and once again demanded the man’s belongings. After the victim refused, he was brutally stabbed multiple times before the assailant fled the scene.
The victim’s sister received a distressing call from him shortly after the attack and was immediately alarmed by the tone of his voice. She recalled her shock and urgency in trying to keep him calm while contacting other family members for support. When their father arrived home, he found his son in the bathroom, tending to serious injuries that included a fractured skull and multiple stab wounds.
Detective Senior Constable Dean Russell described the incident as concerning, emphasising that it appears to be an isolated and opportunistic attack, with no prior connection between the victim and the attacker. Authorities are actively searching for the male driver involved, who may have had a female companion, and are appealing for any dashcam or CCTV footage related to the attack.
