Collingwood AFL great Scott Pendlebury has extended his contract for another year, setting the stage for an impressive 21st season with the Magpies in 2026. According to Tom Morris, Nine’s chief AFL reporter, Pendlebury will likely be joined by fellow veterans Steele Sidebottom and Jeremy Howe, who are also expected to secure one-year extensions to continue their careers in Collingwood’s iconic black and white guernsey.

These three players have been pivotal in the Magpies’ push for a top-four finish this season, with Sidebottom recently winning the Anzac Medal. Pendlebury, currently sitting at 420 games, is just 12 matches shy of breaking the record for the most games played in VFL/AFL history, held by North Melbourne legend Brent Harvey, who completed 432 matches.

Morris shared the news with 9News Melbourne, mentioning that although the contracts have not been formalised yet, they are anticipated to be signed within the upcoming days. In addition to the veterans, Collingwood’s Brody Mihocek and Jamie Elliott are currently free agents, while Mason Cox and Tom Mitchell’s contracts have been put on hold until the season concludes.

This coming Thursday, Sidebottom is set to play his 350th game for Collingwood, while Howe has made 268 appearances split between Collingwood and Melbourne.
