A 67-year-old man has been arrested and charged with additional sexual assault offences related to allegations of abuse against teenagers during his time as a basketball coach. The Queensland police apprehended the individual at his residence situated north of Brisbane.
He faces four counts of indecent treatment of a child, alongside one charge of entering a home with intent. The allegations involve three young individuals known to the accused, who were aged between 11 and 15 at the time of the incidents. According to police reports, these offences are said to have occurred in 2006, 2023, and 2024 while he was actively involved in coaching youth basketball.
These latest charges follow earlier accusations made in January, where the man was charged with multiple offences including seven counts of rape, two counts of sexual assault, and one count of grooming a minor under the age of 16. Authorities claim these earlier offences happened between 2013 and 2017, suggesting the man exploited his role as a basketball coach to groom the teenager.
The man has been denied bail and is scheduled to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
