Nitha Olarenshaw, the former wife of Essendon premiership player Ricky Olarenshaw, has been sentenced to less than seven months in a Balinese prison for running an illegal brothel in Seminyak alongside another local woman. Initially facing a maximum of 12 years in the notorious Kerobokan prison, Olarenshaw maintained throughout her trial that her ex-husband should be held accountable, alleging that she was merely a scapegoat for him and three other men she claimed actually owned the business. Ricky Olarenshaw refuted these allegations.
The couple’s separation has added to the situation, with Nitha claiming her ex-husband abandoned her and their two children by relocating to the Gold Coast shortly before police executed anti-prostitution raids. In court, she insisted that Ricky was the true operator of the brothel, alleging that he utilised her name for the business’s paperwork.
Nitha Olarenshaw expressed that following their split, business partners of her ex-husband allegedly pressured her with threats of imprisonment if she declined to pay out dividends, accusations which Ricky has denied, claiming they are false and misleading.
In a related matter, a Melbourne couple, Michael and Lynley Le Grand, received a similar seven-month sentence for their involvement in running an illegal brothel in Kuta. Their comparatively lenient sentences were attributed to their honesty and expression of remorse during the legal proceedings.
