Former television host Andrew O’Keefe has received a fine and a six-month suspension of his driving licence after admitting to drug-driving, specifically under the influence of methamphetamine. The incident occurred on 28 July when he was stopped for random testing in Bellevue Hill, Sydney.

O’Keefe, 53, has faced multiple legal issues, including drug and domestic violence offences. His lawyer informed the court that O’Keefe has participated in rehabilitation efforts and acknowledged his poor driving record. The magistrate, Michael Barko, fined him $404, while highlighting O’Keefe’s previous efforts to turn his life around through rehabilitation rather than incarceration.

This plea follows previous charges in October for drug possession and breaching court orders, leading to a warning from the court regarding the potential for institutionalisation if he continues down this path. O’Keefe, who was once a popular presenter known for his roles on Deal or No Deal and Weekend Sunrise, has battled significant personal issues, including a recent near-fatal heroin overdose while on bail. He was previously convicted in January for domestic violence offences, which further complicates his situation.
