The Defence Force is expected to provide an update today regarding the 36 personnel injured in a crash involving two military vehicles near Lismore yesterday.

In an unexpected twist, Nick Moir, the chief photographer for the Sydney Morning Herald, was one of the first on the scene. He recounted, "I actually stopped, got out my long lens to have a look, and it was like, ‘Holy crap! There’s guys all up on the top,’" during an interview with A Current Affair last night.

After capturing a few photographs, Moir, who is also a member of the Rural Fire Service (RFS), decided to assist in assessing the situation, highlighting the community spirit amid the chaos.
