A 13-year-old boy is currently in police custody following a series of alleged crimes in Beaudesert, a town situated south of Brisbane. The incident, which unfolded in broad daylight, was captured on security footage, showing the teenager pulling what appeared to be a handgun during an attempted theft of a T-shirt from a local shop. Former cage fighter and martial arts instructor Harley Osgood confronted the boy, snatching the shirt back, at which point the teenager brandished the gun before retreating and seemingly putting it away. Osgood expressed concern for his community and the safety of the shop staff and customers, stating that he was glad to step in and use his training, even though he never intended to do so. Following the confrontation, the boy fled and is believed to have approached several other people while still armed. He is likely to face multiple charges, including possessing a weapon with intent to instill fear in a public space.
