Gable Tostee, who now uses the name Eric Thomas, is contesting a casino ban imposed by Star Entertainment following an incident in a Gold Coast hotel room in 2022. This comes nearly a decade after he was acquitted of the murder of Warriena Wright, a New Zealand tourist who fell from a high-rise building during a Tinder date with him in 2014.
The ban prohibits Thomas from accessing any of Star Entertainment’s properties, a decision the company claims is necessary to ensure the safety of its patrons and to protect its reputation. This ban stems from allegations that during a night at the Broadbeach hotel, security staff found Thomas, who bore bruises and bite marks, in a confrontation with a woman who later accused him of strangling her.
Despite the allegations, Thomas has not been charged by police in relation to this incident. He asserts that he is the victim of gender discrimination and is currently fighting the restriction placed on him.
Both parties are set to present their arguments at a tribunal hearing in Brisbane scheduled for November.
