A grieving wife has paid heartfelt tribute to her husband, Zdravko Bilic, aged 57, who was tragically found stabbed to death in the front yard of their luxury home in Warana, Queensland, late on Monday evening. Police suggest Bilic may have been murdered while trying to thwart a suspected home invasion.
Bilic’s wife, Gry Susann Tomte, was in Melbourne managing her successful high-end skincare business, HÜD, when she grew concerned after failing to hear from him. She reached out to a neighbour, who subsequently discovered Bilic’s lifeless body outside their residence.
In light of this devastating news, Tomte immediately returned from Melbourne and fondly recalled her husband as a beloved figure. “He was the kindest, gentlest person I’ve ever known, loved by everyone who had the privilege of meeting him,” she shared with 9News.
Detective Inspector Chris Toohey remarked that Bilic was a well-loved, community-oriented individual. He acknowledged the difficulty of the situation but noted the support Tomte is receiving from the local community during this tragic time.
Investigation details reveal that police suspect Bilic may have interrupted an ongoing home invasion. However, they are still working to determine the precise timeline of the events, pinpointing the possible timeframe of the incident between Sunday night at 11pm and 7pm on Monday. As of now, no weapon has been located, and authorities are appealing to the public for any information or CCTV footage from the area during that period to assist with their investigation.
