On Sunday, August 10, at approximately 1.15pm, emergency services responded to reports of a man in the Nicholson River in Doomadgee. Upon arrival, police discovered the man unresponsive, and he was subsequently pronounced dead. The individual, aged 43, had last been seen in the Doomadgee area on August 5. Authorities are appealing for any witnesses or individuals with information regarding the man’s whereabouts from August 5 to August 10 to contact Doomadgee Police Station at (07) 4742 9090 or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000. An investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death is currently in progress.
