A tragic accident in Adelaide has resulted in the death of a 65-year-old man after he was hit by two vehicles while crossing Wakefield Street around 9.30pm on Sunday. Emergency responders were unable to revive him despite their efforts. Witnesses reported hearing the collision, with one bystander, Kingsley Lewis, noting that while they heard a bang and a scream, it was clear the victim was not the source of the scream.
The accident involved a Nissan four-wheel drive and a Mazda station wagon. Following the incident, a 61-year-old driver from Mitchell Park has been charged with causing death by careless driving. Meanwhile, the 20-year-old driver of the second vehicle from Hillcrest is cooperating with the ongoing police investigation. Both cars are now undergoing forensic examination.
