Emergency services were alerted around 12:05 PM yesterday following an incident in Angurugu, a community located on Groote Eylandt in the Gulf of Carpentaria. Reports indicated that an 18-year-old woman had suffered a spear wound to the head from an assailant known to her.
Upon arrival, emergency responders discovered the woman unconscious at the scene, with the spear still lodged in her head. She was subsequently airlifted to the Royal Darwin Hospital, where she is currently being treated for serious but stable injuries.
