Two individuals were taken into custody following a dramatic incident in the Adelaide Hills, where a car collided with a stolen caravan while trying to overtake a police vehicle. The event unfolded shortly after officers began pursuing an allegedly stolen Nissan Patrol 4WD along Callington Road.
During the investigation, it was reported that a Great Wall station wagon towing the caravan overstepped the police car, making contact with it during the manoeuvre. The driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed on Callington Road near Woodchester, prompting the male driver to flee on foot.
Remarkably, both police officers in the vehicle emerged unscathed. However, images from the scene depict the severity of the crash, with the caravan severely damaged, and a small dog found in distress.
A 35-year-old man from Wellington soon returned to the scene and was apprehended by authorities. He faces multiple charges, including endangering life, driving while disqualified, and illegal vehicle use. Police have confirmed that the caravan involved in the crash had been reported stolen from Mount Compass.
Additionally, the Nissan Patrol, which had initially escaped the scene, was found later, leading to the arrest of a 30-year-old woman from Murray Bridge. She has also been charged with illegal motor vehicle use, breaching bail conditions, and driving without a licence. Both suspects have been denied bail and are scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
