A fortunate Sydney woman, Fayruz Sebo, expressed her relief that she and her three children were away from home when a bus crashed into their house on Aplin Road in Bonnyrigg Heights at approximately 9.50am. The incident occurred on the first day back at school for many students in New South Wales, raising concerns about potential injuries had the crash taken place just a day earlier.

Sebo, visibly shaken, shared her heartbreak over the damage to her family home, which was significantly affected with parts of the roof caved in and damage to the garage, living room, and her children’s room. Thankfully, she was not home at the time, and no one was injured. Six passengers on the bus sustained minor injuries, while the driver was also taken to Liverpool Hospital for treatment.

Witnesses described the crash as sounding like an explosion, and a nearby neighbour rushed in to check for occupants in the home, relieved to find it empty. Initial reports suggest the incident might have been caused by a brake failure, and mechanics are set to examine the bus for further insights. The structure of the house has been deemed safe by NSW Fire and Rescue, despite the substantial damage.
