A 24-year-old man, Adshaiyan Arunasalam from Parramatta, was tragically swept off the rocks during the intense swell that impacted the coast over the Easter weekend. Following this incident on Good Friday, extensive search efforts have been conducted to locate him.
Adshaiyan’s family has expressed their deep heartbreak, stating their desire to “bring Akshayan home.” They are pleading for authorities to initiate underwater searches to help find him. In a heartfelt statement, they described the prolonged wait since the incident as “agonising,” filled with uncertainty and profound grief.
Emergency services were alerted at Little Bay Beach after reports of a man struggling in the water. The family’s gratitude extends to the police, Surf Life Saving guards, and other emergency personnel who have supported them during this difficult time, acknowledging their dedication and compassion. However, the family is becoming increasingly anxious as each day passes without the deployment of specialised underwater search teams.
Over the Easter weekend, New South Wales witnessed a surge in rescue operations, with 50 rescues on Easter Sunday alone and over 100 lives saved since Good Friday, including 30 rescues involving the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The family’s urgent appeal is for all available resources to be utilised in the search for their loved one.
