A dramatic heist unfolded in Brisbane’s Central Business District as thieves executed a meticulously planned robbery, using a stolen white Mercedes SUV to smash through the entrance of an Hermes boutique on Edwards Street. The incident occurred just after 3 am, with the bandits swiftly exiting the vehicle to grab an estimated hundreds of thousands of dollars in designer items, including bags, jewellery, and hats.

The entire operation lasted mere minutes, and after loading their haul into two getaway vehicles, the suspects abandoned the Mercedes, which had been stolen only days earlier. CCTV footage captured their high-speed escape, during which they disregarded traffic signals in their rush to evade capture.

Although police were hot on their trail and reported being just metres away from intercepting one of the culprits, the criminals managed to escape, leaving law enforcement in pursuit. The total number of stolen items remains unclear, but one handbag alone is valued at over $40,000, indicating significant losses for the store.

Authorities are urging the public to be vigilant and report any sightings of Hermes products being sold online. This incident not only highlights the audacity of the thieves but raises concerns about shop safety and asset protection in the area.
