Jacob Charles Keele, 22, has been sentenced to 15 months in prison for exploiting underage girls by paying them for explicit images and videos. The Victorian County Court heard that Keele began this manipulative behaviour at age 18, targeting ten victims aged 14 to 17 over two years, amassing 116 images and 103 videos. His offending was described as “unsophisticated but persistent” by Judge Fiona Todd, who noted that Keele had used both his real name and legitimate bank account for transactions, indicating a lack of foresight in his actions.

The judge acknowledged his history of social isolation and bullying, attributing his descent into this offending behaviour to a misguided desire for connection. Following his prison term, Keele will be subject to a two-year recognisance order and must demonstrate good behaviour. He will remain on the sex offenders register for life.

Judge Todd expressed optimism about Keele’s rehabilitation but underscored the necessity of his punishment to deter similar future crimes. The emotional gravity of the sentencing was palpable, with family members visibly distressed during the proceedings.
