The recent discovery of two deceased men in a Surry Hills home in Sydney has raised concerns, although authorities have deemed the deaths non-suspicious. The bodies of the 83-year-old and 74-year-old were found on July 5 after a friend of Eleanor Barker, a 63-year-old woman living with them, alerted the police for a welfare check. Investigations suggest that the men passed away at different times within the preceding month.

Police have conducted interviews with Barker but have not pursued any charges, asserting that the circumstances surrounding the deaths do not appear suspicious. Detectives have also been canvassing the neighbourhood on Cleveland Street to establish a timeline regarding the last sightings of the two men.

Neighbours described Barker as cheerful and sociable in the days prior to the discovery, with one remarking on their amicable interactions with the deceased, including sharing moments outside the home. Descriptions from the community suggest the men were well-regarded.

Despite the initial call for concern, police continue their investigation and will prepare a report for the coroner to determine the specifics surrounding the deaths of the two men.
