A man is in critical condition in a Sydney hospital after being struck by a car late last night. Emergency services responded to an incident on Cabramatta Road in Mount Pritchard around 11.15pm, where a 55-year-old pedestrian, identified as Antwan Sarkis, had been hit by a BMW sedan.

Antwan was discovered unconscious at the scene and received immediate care from paramedics for severe head injuries before being transported to Liverpool Hospital. His family shared with 9News that Antwan, who is both deaf and partially blind, was returning home from a pub meal when the accident occurred, just 400 metres from his residence. He is known to frequently take that route.

His nephew, Charles, expressed deep concern, stating, “He is like my own father; I look after him and make sure he’s alright.” Reports indicate that Antwan is facing significant health challenges, including brain injuries, multiple fractures, and other serious complications.

Witnesses rushed to assist him while he lay on the ground. The 45-year-old male driver of the BMW was unharmed in the incident but was taken to Fairfield Hospital for testing. A crime scene has been set up as police begin their investigation, though no charges have yet been filed.

Authorities are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage or information regarding the incident to reach out to local police or Crime Stoppers at 1800 333 000.
