Dashcam footage has captured a dramatic incident in California where a car plummeted from an overpass onto oncoming traffic on the Interstate 5 highway in North Sacramento. The crash, which occurred on Monday afternoon (Tuesday in Australia), resulted in the vehicle landing on its roof and narrowly avoiding several other cars. The driver was transported to hospital in critical condition, while multiple lanes remained closed for several hours following the collision. Remarkably, no other motorists were injured in the incident.
Kyman Jeung, the individual who recorded the footage, described the event as a near-miss, saying that processing what happened was quite overwhelming. Jeung remarked, “If any of us were a few seconds quicker, it really could have ended a lot worse than it did.” At this stage, the cause of the crash remains undetermined, raising further questions about the circumstances leading to such a perilous situation on the highway.
