In Melbourne, a footy documentary project featuring actor Eric Bana and former AFL player Koby Stevens has been marred by theft. Stevens discovered his car window smashed in St Kilda this morning, with thieves making off with valuable camera equipment and a hard drive containing extensive interviews for the film.
Describing the stolen hard drive, Stevens remarked, "You’d look at it and probably wouldn’t know what’s on it," highlighting the unique and personal stories it held, stories that had never been shared before. His intention for the documentary is to inspire individuals dealing with head injuries, something he personally faced after concussions ended his AFL career. "We’ve been documenting stories of doctors and athletes on their healing journeys for over five years," he explained.
Stevens, who once struggled to get out of bed due to head trauma, returned to find the shattered glass of his car. Despite having multiple CCTV cameras in the area, police have indicated they may not have caught the moment of the theft. "You wouldn’t think something like that would happen so quickly," he remarked.
What Stevens truly desires is the return of the hard drive, urging anyone who might find it to return it, irrespective of the stolen camera gear. "The film, titled Thrive, is set to enter post-production by the end of the year," he stated. "It’s groundbreaking material, and it’s concerning that such sensitive content is out there in Melbourne."
