A couple has been sentenced to prison for the rape of a 15-year-old girl after a party at their Gold Coast home. Christopher Luke Hili and Lee Kathleen Hili were found guilty of multiple charges, including two counts of rape, along with exposing a child to indecent acts and films. Christopher Hili also faced charges related to supplying cannabis to minors, which he denied.

In April 2024, the Queensland Supreme Court jury took about two hours to reach their verdict following a five-day trial, where the couple remained defiant, pleading not guilty. They were sentenced on 2024 after spending nearly a year in custody. Christopher received a seven-year prison sentence, while Lee was sentenced to six years.

During the trial, the prosecution presented pre-recorded testimony from the victim, as no forensic or DNA evidence was presented. Crown prosecutor Melissa Wilson stated that the girl attended a party at the couple’s property in December 2021, where she consumed alcohol and cannabis provided by Christopher Hili. After becoming incapacitated, the girl was led to the couple’s bedroom under the impression she was going to rest with friends.

The victim recounted waking up naked and being sexually assaulted by both Christopher and Lee, while a pornographic film played in the background. Lee Hili testified in her defence, denying any involvement in the assault or being present during the incident.

Lee will be eligible for parole from September 30, 2025, while Christopher’s parole eligibility is set for March 31, 2026, following their time served in pre-sentence custody.
