A tragic incident occurred in Bali, where a boat carrying snorkellers capsized, resulting in the death of Canberra woman Anna Blight, aged 39. Anna was remembered fondly by her colleagues at Cor Cordis, an insolvency firm where she worked for nearly two decades. Her coworkers described her as an “exceptional leader” and a “work mum”, highlighting her generosity and dedication.

The capsizing took place as Anna and twelve others were heading to the popular island of Nusa Penida, when they encountered large waves on Friday. While Anna was found unresponsive in the water, two other Australians, Gabriel Hijniakoff, 28, and Cintamani Warrington, 32, sustained injuries but were reported to be stable following treatment in a local hospital.

Cor Cordis expressed deep sorrow over Anna’s loss, commemorating her invaluable contributions to the firm. The company noted that she played a significant role in its success and made a lasting impression on all who had the opportunity to work alongside her. Chief Executive Daniel Juratowitch spoke highly of Anna, acknowledging her professional achievements and her kind personality that touched many lives.

Jake Borsato, a manager at Cor Cordis, also expressed his grief, calling her a “work mum” and lamenting that she was taken from them too soon. The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade is offering support to Anna’s family, as well as to the families of the injured Australians. In a statement, they conveyed their heartfelt condolences to Anna’s loved ones during this challenging period.

The incident has left her colleagues and loved ones heartbroken, reflecting on the impact Anna made in both her professional and personal life.
