Coles, the prominent supermarket chain, has announced a recall of its homebrand peanut butter products, specifically the 1kg smooth and crunchy varieties. These items were available for purchase from May 1, 2025, until June 30, 2025, in stores and online nationwide for a price of $6.50.

The recall is prompted by concerns from Food Standards Australia and New Zealand regarding possible contamination with aflatoxins, a type of biotoxin that can pose health risks. Aflatoxins are toxins produced by certain fungi commonly found on crops such as peanuts, corn, and cottonseed.

Customers who have bought these peanut butter products are advised not to consume them due to the potential health hazards associated with aflatoxin exposure. For those affected, Coles has made it easy to return the recalled items at any of their stores to receive a full refund.
