During Coldplay’s final concert in Melbourne, frontman Chris Martin surprised fans by tumbling through a trap door on stage. As he entertained a sold-out audience at Marvel Stadium by reading signs, he accidentally stepped backward, resulting in the fall that left the crowd gasping. Fortunately, a production crew member was nearby to catch him, and Martin quickly reassured everyone that he was unharmed. With a touch of humour, he joked, “that’s not planned,” and expressed gratitude to his team for their quick response.

This incident comes on the heels of fellow pop star Olivia Rodrigo’s misstep just weeks earlier, when she fell through a similar trap door during her performance at Rod Laver Arena. Rodrigo has since described the experience as “really scary,” although she managed to carry on without missing a beat.

Despite the dramatic moment, Martin continued with the show, demonstrating his resilience and connection with the audience. Coldplay is gearing up for their next performance at Accor Stadium in Sydney, where they’re expected to bring the same energy and excitement.
