Clive Palmer has formally introduced his new political party, Trumpet of Patriots, in preparation for the upcoming federal election, aiming to mirror several policies endorsed by former US President Donald Trump. Announced in Canberra, Palmer revealed the party will contest elections across the House of Representatives, the Senate, and all Liberal and Teal seats. He asserts, “We will make Australia great” and notes that Trumpet of Patriots is already registered with the Australian Electoral Commission.
The party’s website promotes “commonsense policies for all Australians” and declares a commitment to “drain the swamp.” Palmer’s launch comes after his attempt to re-register the United Australia Party was denied by the High Court, forcing him to create a new entity for the election. With the United Australia Party having been deregistered in September 2022, Palmer emphasised the urgency of the upcoming election, highlighting a decline in living standards attributed to ineffective governance.
He calls on citizens to unite behind Trumpet of Patriots to safeguard freedoms, free speech, and personal liberties. Palmer has nominated Suellen Wrightson as the party’s candidate for Prime Minister, who will represent the party in the Hunter region. Further details on specific policies from the party are yet to be unveiled.
