A Brisbane mother, Ineke McMahon, has shared the shocking experience of discovering that her lemon tree, planted just five months ago on the nature strip outside her home, had been stolen. Despite securing her property by locking doors, keeping cars indoors, and installing security measures, she couldn’t prevent the theft.
McMahon believes the act was the work of a random thief, who appeared to be scouting for opportunities in the early hours of the morning. Security footage captured a car driving by at a slow pace before returning at 4:10 am, moments before a figure emerged from across the street to carry out the theft.
Having envisioned her neighbourhood filled with families enjoying the fruits of her lemon tree, McMahon expressed her disbelief at the theft, describing the situation as both distressing and oddly humorous. The incident has been reported to the police, who are on the lookout for the person responsible for this unusual horticultural heist.
