The Melbourne Cup once again drew a star-studded crowd, with celebrities such as Elizabeth Hurley, Bob Geldof, and Nicky Hilton making appearances at the iconic Birdcage marquee. It’s Hurley’s inaugural visit to the event, and she expressed her excitement, stating, “It’s been amazing.” Hilton accompanied a friend this year, remarking, “I’m not with my sister, I’m with my other sister this year, but we’re having a great time.”
Meanwhile, at the G.H. Mumm marquee, marathon runner Nedd Brockmann kicked off the festivities by popping champagne, energising the crowd. The atmosphere buzzed with around 5,000 attendees joining in the celebrations, including Olympian Harry Garside, who noted the rare opportunity to unwind: “We can let our hair down, a couple of drinks, which we never get to do.”
This glamorous event, blending racing and revelry, showcased not just the thrill of the Cup, but also the joy of shared experiences among friends and family.
