ACT police are seeking assistance from the public to identify a man and a woman following a distressing incident at the Canberra Outlet Centre in Fyshwick, where the man reportedly threatened individuals with a machete. The police were alerted to a disturbance at approximately 3.15pm yesterday.

CCTV footage obtained by 9News captured the moment when a concerned member of the public confronted the man after he allegedly stole a pair of shoes. In response to being challenged, the man brandished a machete, making threatening gestures towards shopping centre staff and bystanders.

After this alarming confrontation, both the man and woman quickly left the shopping centre. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries from the event.

Authorities are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has any relevant information to step forward to assist with the investigation. The police are particularly keen to identify the individuals involved to ensure the safety of the community.
