CCTV footage has recorded a man’s brave confrontation with intruders attempting to break into his Malvern East home early this morning. The incident took place just after 6am when two individuals jumped over a fence and tried to access the property through the back door. After waking to the commotion, the homeowner chased the intruders away, who made a second attempt at the front door. Despite their efforts, the culprits left empty-handed, suspected of trying to steal the family’s car keys.
Authorities believe this incident is linked to a series of five other aggravated home invasions that occurred in Malvern East, Armadale, and Hawthorn East within a time frame of 4:30am to 6am. In one instance, a mother and her young son were awakened by intruders demanding car keys, leading to the theft of a Maserati. Another father reported a similar experience when his Mercedes Benz was taken. Police continue to search for the suspects, who are still at large following this crime spree across Melbourne’s eastern suburbs.
