Carlton forward Charlie Curnow has firmly dismissed any speculation regarding a transfer from Princess Park, reiterating that he intends to remain with the Blues. Rumours had suggested he might move to the Gold Coast Suns, Sydney Swans, or Geelong Cats, particularly amid Carlton’s disappointing season where they’ve lost four of their last five games.

On Tuesday, Tom Morris, a chief AFL reporter, indicated that Curnow had contemplated relocating to Queensland for lifestyle reasons, wanting to escape the intense AFL atmosphere of Melbourne. However, the club swiftly quashed any trade discussions, noting that Curnow is under contract until 2029.

Following the Blues’ recent 24-point defeat against Hawthorn, Curnow addressed the media to clarify his position, stating, “I obviously want to be here… I’m playing at Carlton next year. There you go. Done.” His comments came amidst a match that also marked Jacob Weitering’s 200th game and was the last for popular leader Sam Docherty, prompting Curnow to keep the focus off himself.

Carlton coach Michael Voss also rebuffed questions surrounding Curnow’s future, expressing frustration over how such queries could spiral into misleading narratives. He asserted, “Then it becomes somewhat true, and it’s not,” indicating the need to move forward from the speculation.

In the recent match against Hawthorn, Curnow contributed with two goals from ten disposals, but the team’s performance leaves their chances of making the finals looking slim at this stage of the season.
