A family’s new home in southern Brisbane was severely damaged when a car crashed into it, just missing their two-year-old son, Luka. Aleesha and Andrew Rawson were spending a quiet evening when the accident occurred in Holland Park. Ms Rawson described the frightening moment as feeling like an earthquake due to the tremors caused by the impact.
Fortunately, the Rawson family escaped unharmed, but they noted that the situation could have been disastrous, especially since the car nearly collided with Luka’s room and the home’s gas tank. The couple inside the vehicle was trapped until emergency services arrived, with one suffering fractured ribs and requiring hospital treatment.
Having just received their house keys a few days earlier, the Rawsons were meeting their neighbours under unfortunate circumstances. Currently, they are staying at a hotel until they can return to their home, which has been left without power or water. The timing of the incident is particularly challenging for the family, as they are expecting their second child soon and are keen to resolve these issues before welcoming their new arrival.
